Microneedling

Microneedling, known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves the use of fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the body's natural wound healing processes, resulting in increased collagen and elastin production. This leads to skin rejuvenation, improvement in texture and firmness, and reduction in the appearance of scars, wrinkles, enlarged pores and stretch marks.

MICRONEEDLING FAQS

How does Microneedling works?

A microneedling device contains fine needles ranging from 0.5 to 2.5 millimeters in length. The device is gently rolled or pressed onto the skin, creating thousands of tiny punctures or micro-injuries. These micro-injuries are superficial and typically not visible to the naked eye.

HOW MANY SESSIONS OF MICRONEEDLING DO I NEED?

We recommend that all new clients start with a minimum of 6 sessions, at 3-4 week intervals, if they are concerned about ageing, scarring or hyperpigmentation. If your concerns are more related to skin texture and general skin health then a course of 3 sessions may be sufficient. Your therapist can provide you with advice. The device is gently rolled or pressed onto the skin, creating thousands of tiny punctures or micro-injuries. These micro-injuries are superficial and typically not visible to the naked eye.

DOES MICRONEEDLING HAVE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Here are a few temporary side effects to be aware of with microneedling. The procedure causes short-term swelling, redness, and skin flaking, which can last for a few days. Most people can return to wearing regular makeup within a day of treatment .Although everybody is different it is not uncommon to see other side effects such as breakouts or skin dryness. Aftercare is very important after Microneedling in order to optimise results and your therapist will advise you on the Dos and Don’ts.

WHEN IS MICRONEEDLING NOT ADVISED?

Microneedling should not be performed when the following are present: excess acne, keloid scars, autoimmune diseases, blood coagulation disorder, bacterial skin infections, skin diseases, open wounds and/or non-epithelialized skin lesions, such as chronic wounds.
